An article in the Herald today talks about changes to the CPP that adds a second tier to the Canada Pension Plan. What do you think? How will it impact Canadian businesses in terms of employer costs and administration concerns.
What do you think? Will it impact your business?
An excellent article in the Herald talks about the benefits of forming business relationships with First Nations. First Nations chief, Shawn Atleo gave a speach yesterday to the Halifax Chamber of Commerce on the topic.
An thought provoking statement he made was “It’s not so much governments on their own, it’s Canadian citizens seeing that they have inherited treaties that belong to all Canadian citizens.”
He also spoke about the Membertou community and the economic ties they’ve built with the business community. For more information, you can read the article here.
From the CGA Canada Magazine:
CGA-Canada and CPA Ireland announced the signing of a mutual recognition agreement (MRA) in June of 2009 which outlines a process for members of either body to seek membership in the other and offers enhanced international mobility for members.
CPA Ireland has more than 5,000 members and students and is growing at approximately eight per cent per year. Like CGA-Canada, its members work in all sectors including public practice.
Both associations are founding members of the International Federation of Accountants and the Edinburgh Group, which led to opportunities for staff and volunteers from the two associations to meet and work together over the years. Like CGA-Canada, CPA Ireland was a strong early proponent of mandatory continuing professional development and is actively involved in international and regional accountancy bodies.
Entering into MRAs with substantially equivalent professional accounting bodies is one of the pillars of CGA-Canada’s international strategy and increases the visibility, brand recognition, and value of the CGA designation. More information about CPA Ireland and the terms of the MRA is available at cga.org/canada/alliances.
